Mustaza Elected APUSU president of 2021-2023 By Graham C. Lim Malaysia’s Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sports Director, Mr. Mustaza Ahmad, who is retiring in September, was elected President of the Asia Pacific University Sports Union (APUSU) via an online Zoom meet held on May 27, 2021. The much-respected Mustaza Ahmad, the former Secretary-General of Malaysian University Sports Federation (MASUM), was overwhelmingly confirmed by the members of the APUSU Executive Committee, led by Dr. Ekodjatmiko Sukarso of Indonesia; Mr. Yutaka Misutani of Japan; Prof. Robert Milton Calo from the Philippines; Mr. Taschai Sansanapitayakorn from the Kingdom of Thailand; Mr. Fujita Masahiro of Japan’s NSSU; Mr. Bou Chum Serey of Cambodia; Mr. Park Hyun Mo from Korea; Prof. Dr. Abdul Waheed Mughal of Pakistan; Mr. Mu Jian of China; Mr. Senarath Alwis from Sri Lanka; and Mr. Leey Sabree of Brunei. Mr. Alvin Tai Lian of the Philippines was given the highest honor as President Emeritus, while Dr. Ekodjatmito Sukardo, Japan’s Yutaka Mizutani, and Mr. Taschai Sansanapitayakorn were elected as Vice Presidents, respectively. Sir Graham C. Lim was unanimously elected as the APUSU Secretary-General/ CEO. Other personages elected to the Executive Committee were Mr. Purna Singh Bohara of Nepal and Mr. Eugene Chow from Singapore. The Committee also named Philippines’ Maria Cecilia Sarmiento as treasurer replacing Mr. Taschai Sansanapitayakorn from Thailand. Lim Treasurer (Philippines) - Miss Maria Cecilia Sarmiento Executive Member (Korea) – Mr. Park Hyun Mo Executive Member (Philippines) – Prof. Robert Milton A. Calo Executive Member (Brunei) – Mr. Leey Sabree Executive Member (Japan) – Mr. Fujita Masahiro Executive Member (Cambodia) – Mr. Bou Chum Serey Executive Member (Pakistan) - Prof. Dr. Abdul Waheed Mughal Executive Member (China) – Mr. Mu Jian Executive Member (Sri Lanka) - Mr. Senarath Alwis Executive Member (Nepal) – Mr. Purna Singh Bohara Executive Member (Singapore) – Mr. Eugene Chow The Induction of the APUSU Officers will be held at the Ministry of Sports in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in late November or early December this year. When the restrictions brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic are lifted by the proper authority.
