March 30, 2016 – The Asia Pacific University Sports Union (APUSU) Executive Committee Meeting will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on April 2, 2016.
In its first-ever Executive Committee Meeting, the President and Secretary General of the APUSU will formally sign the APUSU Constitution and By-Laws in a simple luncheon ceremony held at Eastin Sathorn, Bangkok, Thailand.
The Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), the university sports federation that the International University Sports Federation (FISU) officially recognizes as its member from the Philippines, is one of the major prime movers of this get-together.
Alvin Tai Lian from the Philippines has been unanimously chosen as the first President of the APUSU with Malaysia’s Mustaza Ahmad as its Secretary General.
Alvin Tai Lian is the Chairman of the Board of the FESSAP while Mr. Mustaza Ahmad is the Secretary General of the Malaysian University Sports Council (MASUM).
Further, Atty. Baldomero Estenzo was nominated as one of the APUSU three Vice Presidents.
On this occasion, any member of the FESSAP Board of Trustees who wishes to witness the signing of the APUSU Constitution and By-Laws are most welcome to attend. Expenses are to be shouldered by the attendees. Guests will be billeted at Asia Hotel in downtown Bangkok or visit www.asiahotel.co.th.
We propose that your arrival be on April 1, 2016 and departure on April 3, 2016.
Observers have been invited to witness the signing, including Atty. Maria Luz Arzaga-Mendoza, who is FESSAP Special Assistant to the President and currently an appointed member of the FISU (International University Sports Federation) Legal Committee, and Riera Mallari, the president of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA).
Other personages invited are United States International University Sports Federation president Dr. Gary Cunningham; Canada Interuniversity Sports CEO Graham Brown; Dr. Acong Dewantoro and Dr. Didin, Chairman and President respectively of the Indonesia University Sports Council (IUSC); Mr. Somkit Lertpaithoon, Natcha Yantitavattana, and Chatchai Srivilai, President, Secretary General and Director, respectively, of the Thailand University Sports Board; Brunei’s Bahagian Hal Ehwal Pelejar of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam; Mr. Bou Chum Serey, Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Youth & Sports of Cambodia; Papua New Guinea’s Molly Perry-Geno and Peter Kuri, President and Secretary General respectively; and Laos’ Prof Dr. Somsy Gnophanxay, Vice President of the Student Affairs of National University of Laos.
In addition to be invited to attend are Mr. Zeferino Viegas Tilman, president of Academic Sports Federation of Timor Leste; Mr. Alifereti Cawanibuka, president of Fiji Universities Sports Association; and Prof. Mulyana, Dean of Sports Science Faculty of Universitas Negerri Jakarta in Indonesia.
Representatives from Japan’s Nippon Sport Science University, the Philippines’ University of Cebu and Philippine College Foundation; Pupuan V2 Black, Indonesia’s Narotama University and Korea’s Yonsei University have also been invited.
